A new national airline plans to start its flight on 18 July 2009. A source at the Phnom Penh International Airport told The Phnom Penh Post that the newly formed national airline plans to start its domestic flight on 18 July 2009. The new national airline will be baptized Angkor Kampuchea Airline, it is a joint venture between the Cambodian government and Vietnam Airline. The same anonymous source told The Phnom Penh Post that the Cambodian government own 51% shares of the new airline and the remainder 49% will be owned by Vietnam Airline. The new airline plans to fly two routes at its start: one route from Korng Keng Airport in Sihanoukville to Siem Reap, and the second route from Korng Keng to Phnom Penh. The new airline will fly ATR turboprop planes produced by France. The source did not provide the amount of startup funding for the new airline.
